Did not know how to adjust screen brightness on hp pavillion entertainment.  There is brightness adjust button, but it does not work unless pressing fn key.  Thanks for tutorial.

Hey,

I am using HP laptop model '15-ac116TX' windows 10. I have a similar problem, my Fn key +2 or 3 won't change the brightness of the screen. Along with that, the display settings doesn't show an 'Adjust Brightness' option.

Need help with that, please revert back as soon as possible.

Thanks already

On mine (using Windows 7) its the f3 key.  Did you try just the f2 or f3 key without the fn key?  Later laptops are delivered with this setting. You can get the traditional f key results for programs, e.g. f1 for help, by pressing fn+f1.  You can also reset the BIOS at startup to have the old fashioned approach reserving the f keys for program applications (e,g, using f1 instead of fn+f1 for help)

Thank you so much for providing this information.  I upgraded to Windows 10 and have been having an issue with the brightness of my screen so much so that it started to give me really bad headaches.  I was about to revert back until I came across your post.  Your directions were very clear to understand it it took me less than 4 seconds to fix my screen.  No more headaches!  Great job!

You can use the f keys.  f3 increases and f2 decreases brightness.  With older computers you have to use fn+f2 or fn+f3.  You can also revert to these older settings in the BIOS system during startup if you want to keep the old definitions of the f keys for programs, e.g. f1 for help.
