Hello guys,

I am using HP Pavilion Dv6 3049tx. My DVDRam is reading both DVD and CD discs properly. The problem is when i open the drive and perform some operations, the process becomes "Not Responding". All the time it happens for both DVD and CD discs. I tried DVD Cleaner and checked for driver problems, there wasn't any problem. But still its the same old result.

Plz., someone give me some solution for this problem..

@ramesh_prabhu,

You state that the process becomes "not responding".  This is generally a software issue.

Did anything change prior to the issue presenting itself?

What programs are being used to interact with the DVDs/CDs?  Also, what version of the software is in use?

Do you receive any other error messages?  If so, what are they?

Fix-It DOES NOT EVEN GO ANYWHERE NEAR FIXING THIS PROBLEM. (Not for me anyway).

I still have no cd player recognition

Hello Auldgrumpy,

Did you try to go into the registry and clear the upper and lower filters that Pankay suggested in one of the previous post?

That is usually the fix.

What is the product number of your computer?

How long has the drive not been working?

Is the drive original?

Have your made any changes to the computer?

You might try to remove and replace the optical drive.

Please respond at your earliest convenience.

Have a good day.

Thank you!

I tried all the info on HP site, and windows. Cleared registry etc. Ended up reinstalling windows from scratch. That worked.

Laborious quest, but successful.

Thanks again for your help.
