I've used hp coolsense in the past, and recently noticed it was no longer included in support assistant, and the .exe file had been removed from my computer.  I followed the online instructions to upgrade from coolsense 1.0 to 2.1, and still nothing.  Is there something I'm missing?

Hi Meaganite,

I am extremely sorry for not checking this before. I see that the original specifications of your Notebook did not have HP Cool Sense and have verified from my internal resources that this Notebook cannot support Cool Sense. I am sure that you might not like to hear this as you really like the Software but this is true regarding the Notebook you are using. HP Cool Sense is only supported on selected models which came with it. Trying to install the software on a Notebook which did not come with it will give an error or might make it appear to be working for some days but the software is not really helping the cooling to happen more efficiently and will eventually disappear from the computer.

Please refer to the section that says "Is HP CoolSense supported on all notebook computer models?" of the following document. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02638953

Hi,

Please try uninstalling the HP Support Assistant program on your Notebook and installing an older version like this one:

(Version: 6.1.12.1).

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-99047-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...

If this version does not work, you can try try re-installing the HP Support Assistant program (HPSA) from the Recovery Manager software.  Please find the deails here:

Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7):

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01868333

If doing the above steps do not work, please go ahead and uninstall HP Software Framework and HP CoolSense Technology programs from your Notebook and re-install them from the following links

HP Software Framework: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-106977-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...=

HP CoolSense Technology: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-113328-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...=

I am waiting to hear back from you.

I followed all of the troubleshooting instructions, but when I got to the installation of HP CoolSense, I got this error message.  Neither option resulted in CoolSense actualy being installed.

Hi Meaganite,

I am sorry to hear that it didn't work for you.

Can you please give me the Product Number or the Model Number of your Notebook so that I can try finding the necessary updates for your Notebook? Please do not provide the Serial Number publicly here as it is personal information. Also mention the name of the Operating System you are using now. Thank you.

Hi Meaganite,

HP CoolSense 1.0 (HP Thermal Assistant) was designed to run as part of earlier versions of HP Support Assistant. After updating to later versions of HP Support Assistant, HP CoolSense 1.0 may stop working. To fix this issue, follow the steps in the Upgrading from HP CoolSense 1.0 to HP CoolSense 2.1 section of the following document.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02638953

Please follow all the steps mentioned in that section in exactly the same order and let me know how it goes.

I am waiting to hear back from you.

Ok I'm not sure how this happened, but apparently restarting the computer TWICE after completing the install results in CoolSense showing up where it is supposed to be and working properly.  Not sure if you still need it but product # is LQ537UA#ABA

Hi Meaganite,

Great, it is good to hear that. Maybe, it took time for the installation to get identified with 2 Restarts.

Since this is the case, let's observe the Notebook for some time (like a day or two) and see whether Cool Sense continues working properly without any issues. I hope that is the case 🙂 If it does, please come back and let me know and you can mark this interaction as "Accepted Solution". Some of our other customers are also been having a real hard time with this issue and it will be a great help for them to find out the solution. If they come seeing this post and replies, I can try assisting them too further.

Thank you.

If you find any further issues, I can get you the softaware packages for your Notebook based on the Product Number.

Please do not miss to come back and let me know whether it is working smooth or not. I will really appreciate that. Thank you.

Well, yesterday it worked fine, but today I started my computer up and all of a sudden "HP CoolSense is not supported on this machine".  Not sure why it was supported when I bought the machine but isn't now.
