I'm having the same Issue...Bought the computer in january of 2011 and yesterday while using the laptop the screen froze while i was checking my e-mail and the 3 colored lines showed up vertically in the left hand corner and thenm shut down. i waited a few minutes and tried to start it the CAPS button was light up and the wifi button as well and the start button. the fan turns on but the screen does nothing! I tried taking the batery out and charging it and having it pluged in and unplugged but it still will not turn on ... what could be the problem? is it easy to fix? how much will it cost if anything? adn this is the first problem i have had with the computer and it is used everyday since i bought it for i am a student

Hello BekaBrydges09,
I see that you are having problems powering the computer on, is that correct?
I would like to help but I need some more information. What is the model and product number of your computer.
Here is a link showing you how to find those numbers.
Did you make any changes to the computer recently?
Are you still using windows 7?
Here is a link to troubleshoot start up issues. Follow the steps listed and let me know what happens.

Hey emi91402,
It sounds like your boot order may have gotten changed.
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Press the Power button like normal to turn it on.
3. Start tapping the F10 key immediately after turning the computer on. That should take you into BIOS.
4. Use the arrow keys in BIOS. Arrow Right over to System Configuration and press Enter.
5. On System Configuration, arrow Down to Boot Options and press Enter.
6. On Boot Options, arrow Down to Boot Order and press Enter.
7. You want 'Notebook Hard Drive' to be at the top. Use F5/F6 keys to move items up and down until Notebook Hard Drive is at the top.
8. Press F10 to Save and Exit. Select Yes to confirm.
The notebook should now boot from the Hard Drive as long as it is being recognized properly. Your boot order has now been corrected if Windows loads normally.
If these steps don't work or if they are unclear, please let me know. It could also be that your hard drive has become disconnected or has failed. I can give you the steps to resolve both of those issues too, if necessary.
Hope this helps! Let me know the results 🙂

Hey T3cumseh,
Are you shutting Windows 8 down using this method?
Windows Key + I > Click Power > Click Shutdown
This will ensure that computer shuts down properly every time. If you, instead, let the computer idle and go into sleep mode, it may actually be going into hibernation mode and then not resuming properly. This case would be corrected by taking the battery out, like you're experiencing. Try clicking shutdown using the steps above to see if that corrects your issue. Let me know if you have any questions.
Hope this helps! I'll keep an eye out for your reply 🙂
