Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand you need to reset the password on your computer,
No worries as I'd love to help, however, I need a few more details to provide an accurate solution:
Did you create a password reset disc before this issue occurred?
Do you have any alternate user accounts you can log into?
While you reply, here's a few steps you could attempt:
Recovering the password using a password recovery disc
If a password recovery disc was previously created, find the disc and use the following steps to recover the password:
NOTE:
If you do not have a password recovery disc, you must use one of the other sections in this document to access Windows.
-
Start the computer and attempt to enter the login password at the Windows login screen.
-
If the password was entered incorrectly, a message opens stating the user name or password is incorrect. Click OK in the message window that opens.
A new log in screen appears.
-
Click Reset password, and then follow the instructions to use the password reset disc.
Changing the password from another user account
Use the following steps if there is another account on the system that has administrator rights. You may need help from the owner of the account.
Changing the password can prevent you from being able to read EFS encrypted files that were created in the original account.
-
Log in to another account that has administrator rights.
- Click Start
, and then click Control Panel.
-
Click User Accounts and Family Safety, and then click User Accounts.
-
Click Manage another account.
-
Click the account with the forgotten password.
