In the image that was in the first post, it looks like the led is lit and white in color. Is that correct?

Can you right click the Ralink RT3290 device in Device Manager, select and click on properties and post an image of the general tab here in the thread?

How about in the power management tab. remove the tick mark allowing the PC to turn it off and then click on OK to save the change.

I would consider swapping the adapter out for another brand and model.
Take a look at the Intel offerings for improved reliability and higher bandwidth.
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235
Intel wireless AC7260
Take a look at what NewEgg has

There isn't much that we haven't tried.
