I would suggest contacting HP support for other troubleshooting steps. You can still squeeze on the computer where the webcam is at the top of the lid to see if it is a connection problem.
Here is a link to the contact options for HP.

Hi 86rs,
I see that you are having issue with your webcam software. I will be happy to assist you but I will need some more information. I will need your product number, as there are several different Pavilion g6 models. What operating system are you running? If this is the initial operating system that came with the printer you can restore software using HP Recovery Manager. I have included two links below depending on your operating system, that will show you how to restore Cyberlink YouCam software.
Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers: Windows 7

Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers: Windows 8

The problem may be that even though it is a built in camera, it still may be disconnected from tghe inside. What i did to fix mine, I opened the frame of the screen (just at the top) and looked to see if there was any obvious damage, originally i didnt see any but then to the left of my camera theres a small square covering a cord right by the camera and turns out it was unhooked.
