Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

After installation of windows 7 device manager shows exclaimation point

 

Hardware id:

Also DVD/cd rom will not recognize any of my dvd/cd's  but device manager shows device working.

Hi:

 

You will need to use the XP card reader driver from your notebook's support and driver page.

 

There is no vista or W7 driver for that card reader.

 

If the auto install doesn't work, manually install the driver.

Looks like very old machine, please try:

 

    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp29501-30000/sp29788.exe

 

For CD/DVD drive, please try    Run now   from the following link:

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us

That solved the problem for the missing base system drivers Thanks!

 

Ran Fixit and did not solve problem with CD DVD not reading CD DVD's.   Am going to replace and see if that solves problem.

If the CD was working on XP then it should work on W7.

 

Before replacing the unit, try each of resolution steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 from the link below.

 

One of them should fix the problem if it is not hardware related.
