Hi there @sandilyap
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that your battery is not charging, and that there is an x over the battery icon. I am happy to assist with this.
First, please post the full product number for your notebook. See the following, if you need help with that information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Have you checked the contacts on the battery, or is there any damage visible?
Does the notebook power up with the battery removed and the power adapter plugged in?
When the power adapter is plugged in and the battery is present, is an LED lit showing it is on AC power?
Do you have a compatible spare battery that you can try?
Take a look through the following:
Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter
Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP)
AC Adapter Battery Charging Indicator LED Does Not Display Immediately When Plugged In
Improving Battery Performance (Windows 8, 7, Vista)
Let me know the answers to my questions, and/or whether the pages I included help at all.
I work on behalf of HP

Hi Sandilyap,
Try these Steps -
1) Go to Device manager (Control Panel) and check with battery (ACPI and Adapter) that weather its installed or uninstalled.. If uninstalled, then reinstall it.. If you find the battery installed in the control panel, try uninstalling it and reinstall.. See if u find any change..
2) If no Change found. Follow the same above steps but shut down and restart your laptop for every uninstall..
I mean, at device manager, uninstall the battery, turn off the laptop and start the laptop again (you might also select "restart with last good configuration" by pressing F8 while restart)... While reinstalling, the battery gets automatically reinstalled.. You might also try clicking "scan for hardware changes" at device manager..
3) If this too fails, then turn off, unplug the charger, remove the battery, press and hold Power button of 30 Sec and then but every thing back and see if it works..
4) Also Check this - After you take out the battery from the laptop and when you try to put ur battery back in, the battery LED Light should blink (at least once).. If yes, then there is some fault in the laptop's, otherwise the battery is faulty. Get it replaced..

Good Luck!!
