Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

following a failed w10 update my laptop is caught in a continious recovery loop. I'm unable to roll back to previous updates / recover OP system or do clean install . Been told possible HDD also failed, so bought a new HDD and microsoft has provided me with an ISO W10 download link.

My question is do I need to add a recovery partition and if so what sizae would you recommend and how do I download HP recovery tools again as no disks was provided with my laptop?.

Anything else I need to consider?

Hi,

No recommended size for HP recovery partition and no way for you to download it.

Your only option to get HP Recovery partition back is to do factory reset by using HP recovery media.

Since you've not created HP recovery USB after first setup of this notebook, that came with Windows 8.1 64 bit - you're only option is to order HP Recovery USB from HP in your region.

You cannot do successful activation of clean install of Windows 10 now with Microsoft provided ISO (possibly via Microsoft windows media creation tool) if you've not successfully upgraded and ACTIVATED Windows 10 Home 64 bit previously.

So, you can only clean install Windows 8.1 64 bit using Microsoft windows media creation tool by creating bootable installation USB.:
