similar issue. Main drive on an HP Pavilion dv7 1270us went bad and had to reinstall Vista on a blank drive. Now several core drivers are missing, including Network Controller. Here are the Hardware IDs:

This is an old driver from your PC's support and driver page.

 

I am sure there are newer ones on Intel's support site, but it is down right now.
