THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am completely grateful there is someone like you on the internet willing to help total strangers with their problems. After days and days of trying everything you nailed it. I have internet! lol I'm not sure if everything is in working order yet, but when that signal popped up it made me pretty happy. expecially since I needed this for tomorrow.

You're very welcome.
I am always glad to be of assistance to anyone who needs help with their PC issues. I don't care what brand or model.
If I can help, I will.
BTW, below is the support and driver page for your notebook.
There are W7 drivers available.

Hello, I'm really sorry to bother you also, but right now I don't know what to do with my notebook.
It's compaq Presario CQ 57, and it was working just fine until not so long ago. Unfortunately, I left my notebook at home, charging the battery when the storm hit, when I returned home, the laptop was on, I was unable to shut it off and it says that it misses the network controllers.
I tried installing some, that I thought would fit it, since my friend has the same laptop, but the message of 'Realtek Network Controller not Found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the cable." Came on.
Everything works fine, I just can't turn on the wireless or cable net, and when I shut my computer off, it seems to do that, only the fans are still working after.
Any idea whether I should go shoot myself XD before buying a new one, or if there is any help with this one?
Thank you so much.

You're very welcome. Sorry your notebook blew up on you.
Perhaps if your insurance deductible isn't too high, you can file a claim to your HO insurance carrier.
I had lightning hit nearby once, and it trashed several of my household appliances.
I filed a claim because the deductible was less than the aggregate amount of damage.
