Hi,

I have a HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC 15-n271ea.   I'm using it for the first time.  I'm unable to turn on or even find the bluetooth device.

Is bluetooth within the computer or will I have to buy a dongle?

Hope you can help

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

It appears that there is no Bluetooth on that notebook.

Specifications:

You can buy a dongle that will certainly suffice for most Bluetooth applications.   There may be caveats, of course -- high end audio head sets may have limitations.  Best read the reviews before buying and consider that you might not want to buy the cheapest unit you can find -- this might be one of those times that one gets what is paid for.  Smiling.

Hi, Andrew:

According to the product specs for your notebook at the link below, it does not come with built in bluetooth.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04064315

If it did, bluetooth would have been listed with the 802.11b/g/n (1x1) next to the Wireless Connectivity specification.

Other than purchasing a supported combo wireless/BT card listed in chapter 3 of the service manual for your notebook, yes, you would have to purchase an external usb bluetooth adapter.

Thank you for your reply.

You've saved me a lot of time.

I will look into the best dongle for it.

Best wishes.

(not sure what happened to my message - it split into two!)

That one should be fine since it has support for W8.

W8.1 probably even has the drivers for it.
