Check your L & R ballance from your laptop as well as your sound software.
Mine, when purchased, the ballance was set off to the R.
You probily will have to tweek the bass as well as the DOLBY settings.

To do that click start, in the search box type Sound. Once is show up in the search result, click on it. Click on the default Audio Device and click properties
Now with the Speakers Properties window open, click on Levels tab and click Balance. Now check for the volume level on the Left Channel...
If that does not work, Reinstall the Audio card driver and check, if that does not work getting your notebook check by an HP Authorized service provider
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Hello Kattak2k,
You state that one speaker is not working, is that correct? I will be more than happy to help you.
I would like you to check your current audio driver.
1. Access your device manager, if you are not sure how have a look at this link
2. Once there go down to sound , video, and game controllers
3. Left click on the arrow to expand the column
4. Right click on the audio device listed
5. Left click on properties
6. Another box will come up and click on the driver tab at the top
7. Locate where it says driver version and date
When you locate that information please reply when you get a chance.
Thanks
