Hi

I have similar problem. From my investigation I found out that the display system in my laptop has two displays with same name 1. Mobile PC Display and 2. Mobile PC Display (can be accessed from the window for resolution setting of disktop). It says that the primary display is 1 and secondary display is 2. But the problem is the screen of my laptop is set as secondary display. That is why the desktop doesnot show up when I boot my laptop. I just need to ramdomly input my password so that a blank desktop appears and I have to got to resolution setting to change my primary display. I culdnt find any option to delete the displays listed. If anyone can suggest me how to delete ofther displays and just keep only one primary display?

I have the same problem and I am sure it is that cable. How difficult is it to replace the cable and what is the procedure.

Any information regarding this proceduree would br greatly appreciated

Thank you so much!!! My screen was totally black but there was plenty of battery. So I removed the ac and battery then held the off button for one minute. I turned on my power button and it turned on and works great!! Thanks so much for this blog!!

this is exactly what is happening with my HP Pavilion DV4.  This morning; as I was gently wiggling the screen to align the wires on the left hinge to allow me to access my computer; smoke started coming out from under the power button; which is on that upper left hinge side.  I removed power, removed battery and turned it off.  Has there been a recall?  I guess I will take it to the techs at Best Buy where I bought it in 2010.  sick!  I envy my husband his older but better Sony Vaio right now (that I am using)

ALl the lkights come on and the HP will just quickly splash then go black and most times it does not come up at all, nothing but a black screen. Could it be  a ad graphics card?  SO many people have the same issues, why was there not a recall? people pay so much money for these laptops.

SO do you still ahave a problem with it after doing that? Were you able to fix it? I still an almost new one I have not been able to use since it was less than a year old I need fixed. I am a technician but could not find out why my screen was replaced with a new screen and still had the same peoblem so I believe what you say.

I hope you acted on your warranty and got your DV4 fixed because i still have mine and cannot afford $400.
