Hi
my friend is tending to sell his laptop, so I made a backup image for recovery partition using clonezilla and then erased the whole disk, after restoring recovery image I couldn't reach recovery manager, so is there any solution to recover my factory os.

He should have created the USB recovery media flash drive. The opportunity to do that existed untilthe disk was erased.
Now there are two options as I see it.
1) purchase recovery media from HP or an HP partner for a low cost.
2) If Windows 10 was installed, then it is a simple matter of installing the Windows 10 OS and going online. The activation is automatic and is storedin the Microsoft licensing servers. That is Microsoft's new licensing model.
Your information is confusing in regard to the ownership of the notebook as it is either his or yours. The subject says it is both.

No worries.
Windows 8.1 does not use the same licensing model that Windows 10 uses.
In which country do you live?
What was the Windows 8.1 operating system's default language?
As long as the HP keys in the BIOS have not been deleted, the OS should activate on its own once installed.
You can download the Windows 8.1 ISO from the following Microsoft website. Use the media creation key to create a USB Windows 8.1 installer. When using the media creation tool, select the language choose Windows 8.1 and the architecture of the originally installed OS. Skip the part where input of the activation key is asked during the install.

OK.
Then choose English as the language.
