Hi, so I can connect to the internet, but after a bit, I get disconnected from the network. When I troubleshoot, it indicates that there's an issue with my adapter. It's not a problem with my network as all other devices work fine.
I'm using Windows 8; my laptop is a Pavilion dv6 -3284ca; my wifi adapter is qualcomm atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n wifi adapter
Let me know if you need more info.

You can try a USB wireless adapter. If that works, that will narrow down the root cause. If it doesn't work, it will narrow down the issue to one conclusion. There isn't much troubleshooting left that you would want to perform, so I think an adapter is a good idea.

Hello Vivi1790. I understand you are having issues with your network adapter. I am including two Microsoft documents that contain troubleshooting for network adapter issues:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/fix-network-adapter-problems
If these steps help resolve the issue, let me know. Otherwise, I will continue to help you troubleshoot further. I'm only here to help!

Sorry, those things didn't work. I ran a test of the adapter while it disconnected me from the network:
Driver installation test
This test is to check the radio driver installation.
The radio's registry keys are OK.

Configure the radio card and set SSID and other properties.

Thank you for the information. The next troubleshooting step is to update the drivers of the adapter. Please navigate the Atheros website and search the product to find the correct drivers. Hopefully, this resolves the issue, since troubleshooting is scarce after this. Let me know what happens after you accomplish this task.

That conclusion honestly depends on what happens with the USB adapter. If it works, the adapter in the computer could be faulty. If not, there are faulty wireless drivers, most likely.
