yes, I don't need that. and I don't tick anything I wasn't instructed to do so and etc. do we have any other options here?

I'm still not sure how should I uninstall or reinstall the "intel management engine" in normal/safe mode? it's easy to just install the newest without uninstalling anything (listed below), but that doesn;t look like to be the answer.

EDIT: I can uninstal them through 'device manager', right? well, reinstalling them properly didn't help.

it's pretty anoyng having trouble like this. how can a PC software damage itself without user interfering!? happened over night. mistical.. and it's probably one of ten thausands of cases 😕

I'm hoping to find some more help since I need to work on this PC and taking it to a service would be a very time consuming option. since I'm from Baltic states in EU (...).

so, if it's not the BIOS that is causing the problem..  could reinstalling windows fix the problem?
I'm out of ideas here. if this doesn't help, will be forced to bring it to the service. tried all variants.

restore BIOS, reinstall Intel Management Engine Interface, update BIOS to F.22, reinstall Intel Management Engine Interface once again, roll back BIOS to F.20 again.. EDIT: + reintall windows. all with no avail.

what a fail out from nowhere. total fail.. I'll probably be charged for the repairs as well, since this is some software malfunction issue after 4 months of use.... hate all those automatic updates, always causing more problems than without em'.

Is there a password of any sort set in the BIOS? I was a bit surprised to see so many grayed out features.

I do have someone internal at HP I can ask about this for you. I will check back in 24 hours on the thread.

yes, at first you're asked to login as a guest - yes/no
I press no and type my user password that is accepted.

I faced this kind of situation for the first time myself.
I have no idea why the heck is everything grayed out..

Is your notebook still within the warranty?

well, the "dead on arrive" is out of date, but in general - yes it is. I bought it 2012.01

EDIT:
btw, after ~12h being shut down, the notebook turned on restarts for 4-6 times, with led blinking 2 times with interval.

error code:
"LEDs blink 2 times BIOS - BIOS corruption failure"

I guess it's enough said - service.

anyways, thanks a lot for your help, Dean. much appreciated. I'm bringing this babe to service before it went to pieces or I damage the machine by trying to repair it or smth .

Porblem Resolved:

main board changed by servicenet. got my laptop back in 2 weeks, with a few rubbers missing and a few loose screws. looks like it was a serious problem with a whole line of this product, where motherboards malfunction.

currently having no problems. thanks in regards for the help.
