I have a HP Envy ultrabook 4-1002tx running on windows 7 x64 pro. Recently my motherboard was replaced by hp engineer because my pc was not booting up with 1 led blinking code.
After replacing mother board my notebook booted up successfully but after 2 hrs later there was some sudden scrambled display on the screen. HP engineer suggested me to updated the bios and graphics driver for my ATI Radeon 7670 and to be on safe side I completely reformatted my system and installed all the latest drivers from HP website.
It worked fine for 12 hrs but later there was again the display issue. Suddenly the display is garbled/scrambled (i don't know what to say) but nothing was visible of the desktop and no keyboard response. Then I have to forcefully shut it down and again it booted normally.
I have not faced any such issue in my last 2 years usages. only after my MB was replaced it started to occur. I am very confused what can be the possible reason for the issue:
Is it a software fault like - BIOS, Driver (although I have updated them all)
Is it a hardware issue: Motherboard, or Graphic card, or loose connection somewhere
Please suggest. Thank You,

Hello @lima619,
I have read your post on how your notebook are experiencing a scrambled display, and that disabling the AMD driver in the device manager temporarily solves the issue. Are the AMD drivers installed on your computer from the HP ENVY Ultrabook 4-1102tx Drivers page, or from AMD's driver page? Does this display distortion occur if you connect your computer to an external monitor?
In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on Troubleshooting problems with notebook displays (Windows 8, Windows 7). This should help return the functionality to your notebook's screen.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

HI @MechPilot
thanks for the reply.
The driver for amd gpu is installed from hp website sp60478.exe
I do not have an external moniter, but the distortion stop if i run a high graphics demanding software.
For now as a temperery fix i have sheduled various graphic softwares to launch at startup which seems to fix the distortion, but this fix consumes lots of battery and the fan is always running in the background.
I have also updated the bios to f.23
I think the problem is with switchable graphics. What do you suggest me to do next?

Hi again lima619,
It is good to hear back from you!
Did you get a chance to download and install the Intel graphics card drivers for your computer? If not, please install the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver to best use the switchable graphics on your notebook.
If you have installed this software, and the issue continues, I recommend performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. This can be done by following this document on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 😎, as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 😎. This should return your system back to factory defaults.
If the issue persists, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.
