Hi Michelle,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I will be happy to help you restore your network drivers and get you back online. When you got the that access denied error was there anything else to it? The more information about the error message the better I will be able to help you. What operating system are you running? There are a number of different models in the dv7 series so I will need to know your product number. Also what driver did you download? In your Device Manager what do you have listed under Network Adapters?

Hi

We are using windows Vista & computer model is dv7-2045ea

I downloaded all 3 network drivers from your website - it showing error logo next to the following on device manager:- 6TO4 adapter, network controller & Realtek RTL8168/Ethernet

When I search for software changes - the computer recognizes them and I click on install bit then it states 'windows encountered a problem installing the driver software - access is denied / if u know manufacturer then visit website and check support section!

I've tried completely uninstalling from the device manager and reinstalling again and same happens

Thanks
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for the additional information. It is odd because in your device manager there is no wireless adapter there. The Realtek one is for a direct connection using Ethernet and the 6TO4 adapter is for converting IPv6 address to IPv4. You should be seeing a Broadcom or Atheros wireless adapter in there. Use the HP Diagnostic Tools to check to see if the wireless module is working. Under Component Test there is a test for the Wireless Module.  Run that and let me know how it goes.
