Nice to meet you. I'm not
With HP,but I will give you advice on what to do with your computer. You will never get an answer here from HP.
Now since you just purchased you HP, what you need to do it's find your warranty info that came with your computer. In there is a phone number for service. Call and give all your info to them. They can give you the info on a service provider. You will probably have to send it out for repair. Or if it came with geek squad, give them a call. They have locations at all Best Buys. They will handle all your problems. Usually takes about two weeks. I would tell them to check your hard drive and fan. HP has a big problem with over hearing. Chances are it got to hot and burnt your hard drive. I had same I problem with mine. I just had them send Me the parts and I did myself proud to say, knock on wood. My HP I'd now over Three years old and works beautiful. I did crack the screen since but I got one online for $80 and swapped it out, no problem.
Hope I was able to help you. I know it gets frustrating. Have a great day. Pee wee

I just wanted to stop by and with my experience. I had visited this thread after my fan stopped working. It was unexpected and I was really BS about it. There was advice of blowing into the fan or trying compressed air which did not work for me. I thought for sure I was going to have t get in touch with HP, my laptop was only about 2 months out of the box!
WELL here is how I got my fan to work again... I DROPPED MY LAPTOP. Accidentally of course. I lifted my laptop table to move it and my laptop tipped off the back and slammed to the floor, battery flying off and all. I was even more BS. However I put the battery pack back on opened it up and turned it on... NO COOLING FAN BLACK SCREEN WARNING... could this be... YES! The fan turns ON!!!
SO if blowing your HP doesn't work, DROP IT!
A+ HP for a brilliant product equipt with interesting solutions to annoying problems... :smileyindifferent: or something like that.
