Ok. I'm sorry I know we're going through a lot of steps here but I do want to help you resolve this issue. Before we go any further with registry changes, I would like you to back up the registry. Here's how to back up the registry.

Once the registry is backed up, here are a few changes to try:

Option 1

1. Open regedit.exe

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\SysprepStatus

3. Change 'CleanupState' value data to '2'

Change 'GeneralizationState' value data to '7'

4. Click OK.

5. Restart the computer. If SysPrep is still coming up continue to Option 2.

Option 2

1. Open regedit.exe

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status

3. Change 'SetupType' value data to '0'

Change 'SystemSetupInProgress' value data to '0'

Change 'SetupPhase' value data to '0'

    Leave 'CmdLine' value data blank

Change 'OOBEInProgress' value data to '0'

4. Click OK.

5. Restart the computer.

Let me know the results of those options. If neither option works individually, try them both together.

Hey Anand_krisha,

I'm sorry you're running into this issue with the Recovery loop. The first thing I would suggest is testing the hard drive and memory to make sure they are OK.

Steps to test hard drive and memory

1. Shutdown the computer

2. A Press Power button to turn it back on and start tapping F2 repeatedly to bring up the System Diagnostics Menu

3. Choose Start-Up Test (will test memory, hard drive and other critical components - relatively quick and thorough)

4. Let me know what the results are, particularly for memory and hard drive.

If all pass, you may need to completely scrub the hard drive clean using a 3rd party program and use Vista discs to reinstall. That's what one user reported on this thread. I know you mentioned that you don't have discs, but if you can still read the Microsoft Product Key on the label on the bottom of the computer, you can get a legitimate Vista ISO and burn it to a disc using a second computer. That would be the retail copy of Vista rather than the OEM version which is currently on the recovery partition.

The only down-side to that is that you'll have to go out and download all of the drivers from the HP Driver Page for the Pavilion dv5-1235dx. Even with the OEM recovery partition version of Vista, though, you would still need to go to the driver page and get updates, so it's not really a "down-side".

Let me know if you have any questions and what the results are of the Start-Up test, when you get a chance 🙂

Any luck with your issue?

*)Memory test and Hard disk test get passed in my cases.

*) I am again try and put recovery . This time also recovery is done . after hp software installation menu has come.

So I left as it is. after 24 hrs(approx), it get booted .

(*)But system preparation tool 3.14 has come. So I select shutdown/reboot option , that time some clean up plugin happen afterward corresponding action done.

(*)Now, whenever system boot , it not booted properly. It get reboot two times automatically . In third loop only it get boot and it come with system preparation tool.

So that boot up take nearly 20mins

NOTE: I only have vista product id. from that shall i get windows product key and iso file

If it is still taking very long periods of time to boot or do anything else, that is very telling of a hard drive issue, even if the hardware tests passed.

Have you completed the recovery yet?

HP Recommended

1)Now recover is completed and I think, HP software installation also completed .

2) But, Now whenever,  I boot the laptop , It doesn't boot immediately .

3) Two times , it get restarted automatically and then it booted with sytem preparation tool.

4)Afterwards, system performance is OK.

That is the typical recovery process. It restarts a couple of times during the installation of Windows and the HP software. The whole process takes about 45 min to 1.5 hrs. If it is now loading normally each time you shut it down and power it back on, then it is fine. Let me know if it is not starting up normally 🙂

Installation windows and hp installation is complete.  Now system is boot normally.

But whenever power on the system, it restarts two times( it takes 10 mins ) . and then system preparation 3.14 tool is come.

Why system get restarts two times and boot normally with system preparation Tool message

This may be the link you were using for that picture, but have you gone through those steps? Those steps suggest stopping the service. Follow those steps going into the Services window and find the Intel Viiv Media Server, right-click on it and click Stop.

Also check your Startup Services by going to

1. Click the Start button

2. Type in 'msconfig' and press Enter

3. Click on the Startup tab

4. Look for Intel Viiv Media Server and uncheck it.

5. Click Apply and OK. Restart when you are prompted to do so.

Let me know if it is still coming up after a couple of restarts and shutdowns. 🙂
