It seems that the registry changes which were made are causing the issue of not being able to log in. Restoring the registry to the way it was before you made the change should un-do that. Un-doing the change should allow you to login as normal.

I see. I was hoping it would allow you to correct the restarting issue with those registry changes without having to retry a recovery. It looks like those registry changes aren't working, though, and the next step would be to reinstall Windows again.

1)I Didn't have vista installation CD . Now, I have only one option is recovery from the recover the partition.

2)If it need to install OS means, Is this any option to get my original version. For me the Product key for OS is not displayed properly . But I have the product ID. Is any option to get original vista os

Yes you can download the Vista files from this page  Use ImgBurn to combine/create an ISO out of them. Then use ImgBurn to burn that ISO to a disc (IMPORTANT: Burn at the lowest Write Speed available). Then you can boot to that disc and reinstall Vista, using the product key you mentioned.

You could get the Recovery discs from HP or a third party, but the above way is free (if you've got a blank disc and a product key). Let me know if you run into any issues or questions with that 🙂

I had to pay for the disks, and it was still under warranty. I bought it at Best Buy they will not take it back, only has 15 day return policy I have all the software and drivers, so I can keep restoring it to Factory Settings. I am waiting for a call back from a Case Manager at HP, tryimg to force them to give me RA for Best Buy for refund.

Best Buy will only give in store credit. Buyer Beware

@Country-Girl I'm sorry you're running into that issue. This thread is regarding a Pavilion dv5-1235dx that was released in 2008 with Windows Vista. What model is it that you are referring to?

If you just bought it within the past 6 months or so, it is highly unlikely that the two issues are related. If you don't reach a resolution with your case manager, feel free to post a new thread on the forum.

Here's how to post a new thread to get the best visibility and to avoid confusion
