Thank you very much for your response Cloud Strider. I look forward to hearing from someone at HP soon.

I guess a lot of them are going kaput now. Mine just started this problem today. How can I get assistance with this problem?

MY TouchSmart tx2 lights come on,The screen is blank. This started today, The usual button fixes don't work. I had the same problem with the TX1000 and I sold it after I got it repaired, now this has the same problem. I've had it with HP, time to start sending messages to all the tech forums about your product and their shelf life, which is about a little over a year. Just in time when the warranty expires.

i'm guessing you're adding an extra person to the list, i own the same model of the laptop (HP Touchsmart tx2) and face the same problem with the defective chip. the laptop powers on, fan is running, buttons light up, but the laptop wont boot. tried the normal fixes (removing battery and A/C adapter, pressing home button for 300 seconds, try to open again, trying to press different key combinations) but still no hope. So, could you please respond to this inquiry and let me know what I can do to get this manufacturer's defect resolved. Thanks for your time and attention to this matter.

I just wanted to thank everyone for noting this issue for everyone. I wouldn't grumble too much if I had to factory reset or indeed swap a hard drive if I really had to. This situation is however utterly ridiculously. As a fellow TX2 user who is now precisely in the same boat as everyone else - I own an unusable device, with no avenue or hope of repairing a design flaw which HP have clearly known about for some time.

Rest assured people of HP, you will NEVER see another purchase from me in the future - be very proud of yourselves.

Hp don't care about its customers, so why bother to support them. I've gotten 213 responders and adding each day saying they would not buy another HP product and I've posted on every forum I can find and will continue to every day as I have a lil free time. Just my way of getting a lil peace for this piece of $hit they sell.

Hey hp support, I have the exact same issue with my touch smart tx2 not booting. How do you want to handle?

Cloud_Strider,

I just started having exactly the same issue with my TX2.  Any possibility of getting some assistance?

Thank you.

Guys I opened it up took out the mother board and using a 200w halogen lamp and a cardboard and foil heat shield reseated the GPU and added a copper heatsink so that it doesn't happen again. It's been working for 2 days now, non stop, and no issues. Look up HP TX Blank screen on YouTube. Or use this link.
