I took a photo with Webcam. I deleted it from My Pictures. I deleted it from Sky Drive. I went to Sky Drive App and it wasn't there. I restarted my computer. Upon starting my computer, it is the first photo to pop up before I can even sign in.

WineGirl,

Welcome to the HP Forum.

It is likely you assigned the photo to  your login, to your Start Screen, or to your background.

Once you do that, things can get weird because copies of what you selected are placed into the hierachy that controls these features.

Possible Examples:

C:\Users\YourUserID\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\AccountPictures

C:\Users\YourUserID\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\CachedFiles

The only point is that the photo / image may still be lurking in the system after having been copied by the system for use with one feature or another.  If you really need to be RID of the image, you will need to find it and eliminate it.

You will have to search for the image(s) -- if you know the name of the file, so much the better.  The image might have been renamed, in which case you will need to hunt down the .jpg files in your account.  If you use the "View" controls to separate the results by type or by folder, the search might go faster.

If you simply need to change the existing photo / image that you see in your Login / StartScreen / Background,

you can do that:

  • Windows key > type "pc" > click on PC Settings >
  • Right there on the Personalize window, you can select new images for Lock Screen (Login Screen), Account Picture.

If you need to change your background >

  • Open a File Explorer window (used to be called Windows Explorer)
  • Navigate to a folder that has photos that you like >
  • Right-Click on your photo > Select "Use as Background"

It is a nice way to say “Thank You” for the help.

Hello, I just realized that this is the screen saver picture...not the pic on my login page. How do I get in and change the screensaver? It's a different pic than my login pic and desktop pic....wish I could remember how I got in there to begin with!

WineGirl,

When the "account" image is not one of those available in PC Settings,  then it is likely in the following area:

Control Panel > icon view > Personalization >

OR

Right-Click on a clear spot on the Desktop field > Personalize >

Looking at this from my perspective, the only option I find in the Screen Saver category that might be showing personal photos and / or images is the "Photo Gallery" setting -- Photo Gallery uses images from your Pictures folder.  This seems to imply that the image(s) you see are still stored within your Pictures Folder under your Account.

Ok... So it's not the screensaver. It's not pic on login. It's not desktop Pic.....as soon as I turn on my computer the pic pops up. So where could that be stored in the computer?

WineGirl,

I am out of ideas.

Reprinted from earlier - edited for clarity:

  • Windows key > type "pc" > click on PC Settings >
  • Right there on the Personalize window, you can select new images for Lock Screen (Login Screen), Account Picture.
  • Click on the Image itself to change it; Click the standard image you like or click Browse to select an image from your own collection.

The PC Settings is where the Lock Screen is set -- soon after Windows boots, this is the first graphics screen many people see **.

** If one has installed the Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 Safe Mode for startup, then the selection window shows up prior to the login screen.

NOTE:

Changing the Lock Screen image outside of PC Settings might be possible -- it is not recommended even if one does locate the embedded data.
