windows 7 installation

I have read alot of posts evrywhere !!!!.... they all have different ways to find the missing drive and so on. I actually got the drives to pull up yesterday during the installation not sure how but it was Disk part 0 then there were 4 different Disk parts but none would let me put format them or install the disk to them. so idk, and i never could get them or anything else to come up after that. Anther thing is the internet connection how do i connect if i have no menu... that is another reason i was looking to have to resort to the command prompt. How else would u get anything done? I have other hardrives from other hp computers different os's but that shouldnt matter right since im gonna install from dvd anyhow? Thank u for your quick replies.

Hmm.   I'm not sure about the intent of that wording.

A "Service Pack" is software to update an existing Windows 7 system.

The "Anytime Upgrade" allows upgrades, e.g.,

* Windows 7 Home Edition to Windows 7 Professional,

* Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate Edition,

if you pay a fee to Microsoft.

You could have a copy of Windows 7, with Service Pack 1 "integrated", i.e., you will not need to install Service Pack 1 after installing Windows.   Or, you could have a "utility" disk, containing only two items: Service Pack 1, and the Anytime Upgrade application.

Boot from the Windows Installation media.

When you see the window that displays any existing partitions, just delete ALL of the partitions, so that the disk-drive is "empty".

Then, your only option is to install into that "unassigned" space, i.e., let Windows do the necessary partitioning.

No need for any "command prompt" stuff!

Do you have a notebook computer or a desktop computer?

It's quite unusual for a desktop computer to have a lamp on the keyboard to indicate a network connection.

It's somewhat normal for a notebook computer to have a lamp on the keyboard to show an active WIRELESS connection, or an "orange" colour when there is no connection, i.e., before Windows is installed and the connection to your own wireless network has been defined.

im pretty sure it is the right dvdthat i need. ok gonna try this installation again and how would u reccomend i connect to the internet here? I have a G62 Notebook. So what do I do when during installation it says cant find your signed drivers... please browse and find your drivers then click install. I think i have went through every file it lets me "browse" through and no luck and that took a heck of a long time

I cannot view the image -- a "moderator" must "approve" the posting of the image.  Maybe, in 30 to 60 minutes.

On another computer, download the software, and run it.

At one point, it will list the folder into which the "unpacked" files will be stored.

Make a note of that folder.

Then, click "Install".

Immediately, on the next window, click "Cancel".

This will leave the unpacked files in that folder.

Copy all the 28MB of files from that folder into a folder on your USB memory-stick.

On the "target" computer, restart the installation.

When prompted for additional device-drivers, point to that folder on the USB memory-stick.

Hopefully, these are the correct files.

i clicked on your link and after putting my info in i get the message, "No software or drivers are available for this product with the selected operating system" Another brick wall. Thank you for attempting this with me.

What Operating System are you running to access that web-page?

But, there are device-drivers for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 -- click that "View all" button.

P.S. Yes, you do have the correct DVD for installing Windows 7 (with Service Pack 1 pre-applied).

That Windows 7 disk appears to be the correct one.  When it says includes Service Pack 1, it just means that it is a newer disk than the original Windows 7 install disk, and service pack one has been integrated into the install so you do not have to install that after the install is completed..  You might wish to get the "Convenience rollup update for Windows 7 SP1" and then run that before actually connecting to the internet, also.  That way many of the updates will already be installed.  Download that on a seperate working computer and save to a flash drive, then run after the install is completed.
