Hello ,

I have an HP ENVY dv6-7214nr, it has bluetooth in it

since I updated to Windows 8.1 64 bit, I cannot see the bluetooth.

The bluetooth does no even exist on device manager.

I tried instaling sp65049.exe that is provided on my laptop's drivers page. It kept telling me that my Bluetooth hardware is not inserted and needs to be reinserted.

I tried reinstalling the factory driver from the recovery panel in HP Assistant. It installed without a problem but still no bluetooth device.

Thank you so much for helping me

Hi AMOUR183,

I understand that you are having a problem with installing the Bluetooth after updating to Windows 8.1. I will try my best to help you resolve this issue.

In this document for the Notebook PC May Not Detect Bluetooth Devices are steps that may resolve this issue.

Here is a document for Understanding Bluetooth Wireless Technology that may have some steps also that could help with this issue.

I hope this helps, please let me know.

Thank you,

Hello Advance23,
Thank you for your reply. I have in fact already tried everything that u mentioned and recommended even before I wrote my post. But nothing happened. Neither the original bluetooth driver (which I got through HP recovery manager) nor the updated driver (which you can find online through HP website) is working on windows 8.1. It is just like my bluetooth hardware does not even exist on the laptop, the device manager is not seeing it !
Thank you again for taking the time to reply

Hi AMOUR183,

I am sorry that information was not useful. I suggest that you download and install the HP Wireless Button Driver. If this is not installed, then sometimes you cannot see your Bluetooth device.

I hope this helps, let me know.

Good Luck,

The wireless button driver was alread installed. However, I re-installed it based on your advice. And no, did not work, still the same. 😞

Hi AMOUR183,

It seems like the original install maybe had an issue before you updated, if we cannot get the Bluetooth to be recognized. I recommend Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 😎. Make sure that all the drivers have been updated in Windows 8. Once you have done this, then try Updating Windows 8 to 8.1

I hope this works for you, let me know how it goes.

Thank you,

Bluetooth was already working fine in Windows 8. The problem happened after updating.

I followed your advice, installed all windows updates. Nothing happened.

Thank you for following and keeping up with me

Hi AMOUR183,

I think we should look at the install for the wireless as well.

  1. From the Start screen, type recovery to open the Search charm, and then selectRecovery Manager from the search results.
NOTE: If your computer does not have HP Recovery Manager, these steps will not help. Instead, download and install wireless network and/or Bluetooth drivers from HP's website or the wireless network manufacturer's website.
  2. If prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. If prompted by User Account Control to allow the program to make changes to the computer, click Yes .
  3. Click Drivers and Applications Reinstall or Hardware Driver Reinstallation (whichever appears in the list).
Figure 19: Drivers and Application Reinstall button
Recovery Manager screen with the Drivers and Application Reinstall button highlighted.
  4. Click Next if presented with a Welcome screen.
  5. Look for the words wireless or Bluetooth in the list of names to find the driver.
  6. Select the name of your wireless driver, and then click Next .
NOTE: If both wireless and Bluetooth are not functioning and you see two drivers in the list, install the wireless driver first and then repeat these steps to reinstall Bluetooth.
  7. Wait for the driver to reinstall and then restart the computer.
Wireless and/or Bluetooth functionality should be restored. If not, see Troubleshooting Your Wireless Network and Internet Connection (Windows 😎

Let me know if this works,

Thank you,
