Troubleshooting Steps

Restart the Laptop in Safe Mode
- Restart your computer.
- As soon as the computer starts, keep pressing the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.
- Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and press Enter.
- Login in Safe Mode and try to troubleshoot from there.

Update or Rollback Device Drivers
- In Safe Mode, press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Check if any device drivers have warning symbols. If found, right-click and select Update driver
- If a recent driver update was installed, consider right-clicking on the device and selecting Properties, then using the Roll Back Driver option.

Perform a System Restore
- Open Control Panel and search for Recovery.
- Click Open System Restore.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the system to a previous point where it was working correctly.

Run Startup Repair
- From the login screen, click the Power button, then hold down the Shift key and select Restart.
- From the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
- Follow the prompts to repair startup issues.

- Use a reliable antivirus program to scan your system for any malware or viruses that may be causing issues at boot.

Check Hard Drive Health
- In Safe Mode, open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter to scan and repair the hard drive.

- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run Quick Test or Extensive Test to check for hardware issues.
