The HP Pavilion x360 require a BIOS update to F.25 to address firmware-related compatibility or startup issues. In some cases, users may be unable to find the required BIOS version through the standard HP Software and Driver Downloads page.

The correct BIOS package depends on the exact Pavilion x360 model and product number. HP lists F.25 BIOS packages for multiple Pavilion x360 families, but the SoftPaq number is not the same for every model.

 

Symptoms

  • BIOS F.25 is not displayed on the current HP driver-download page.
  • The computer is running an older BIOS version.
  • The notebook experiences startup or boot problems.
  • Windows repeatedly enters Preparing Automatic Repair.
  • The notebook restarts after displaying the HP logo.
  • A BIOS update has been recommended as part of troubleshooting a startup issue.

Cause

BIOS packages are released for specific hardware configurations. Older BIOS versions may no longer appear in the standard driver list, and different Pavilion x360 families can use different SoftPaq packages.

 

Troublesooting steps 

 

1: Identify the exact bios f25 pavillion x360 model

Before downloading BIOS F.25:

  • Press Windows + R.
  • Type:
    msinfo32.
  • Press Enter.
  • Locate:
    • System Model
    • System SKU
    • BIOS Version/Date
  • Record the information.

Alternatively:

  • Shut down the notebook.
  • Turn it on.
  • Immediately press Esc repeatedly.
  • Select F10 – BIOS Setup.
  • Record the Product Name and Product Number.

Do not proceed until the exact model has been identified.

 

2: Confirm that F.25 is the correct BIOS

Compare the product number against HP's BIOS listing.

 Do not install F.25 because the notebook is an HP Pavilion x360. The BIOS package must match the specific system.

 

3: Prepare the notebook

Before starting the BIOS update:

  • Connect the AC adapter.
  • Make sure the battery is adequately charged.
  • Close all running applications.
  • Save important files.
  • If BitLocker is enabled, make sure the recovery key is available and suspend BitLocker protection if required by the system configuration.
  • Disconnect unnecessary external devices.

Do not disconnect AC power or turn off the notebook during the BIOS update.

 

4: Download the correct HP BIOS package

Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for the exact notebook model.

  • Enter the exact product number.
  • Select BIOS.
  • Locate BIOS F.25 if it is the appropriate version for the system.
  • Verify the SoftPaq number.
  • Download the BIOS update.

 

5: Run the BIOS update from Windows

If Windows starts normally:

  • Locate the downloaded HP BIOS  .exe file.
  • Right-click the file and select Run as administrator, if available.
  • Follow the HP BIOS Update and Recovery instructions.
  • Allow the utility to prepare the BIOS update.
  • When prompted, restart the notebook.
  • Allow the BIOS update screen to complete.
  • Do not press the Power button or disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Wait until Windows starts again.

The computer may restart more than once during the firmware update.

 

6: Verify BIOS F.25

After Windows starts:

  • Press Windows + R.
  • Type msinfo32.
  • Press Enter.
  • Check BIOS Version/Date.
  • Verify that the expected BIOS version is installed.

You can also press Esc, followed by F10, during startup and check the BIOS information in BIOS Setup.

 

If BIOS F.25 Is Not Listed on HP's Website

If F.25 does not appear on the current HP driver page:

  • Confirm the exact product number.
  • Check HP's archived BIOS/security-update records.
  • Identify the SoftPaq associated with the exact model.
  • Do not download a BIOS package belonging to a different Pavilion x360 family.

If Windows Does Not Boot

If the Pavilion x360 cannot start Windows, do not attempt to run a Windows BIOS installer normally.

First:

  • Turn off the notebook.
  • Connect the AC adapter.
  • Turn on the notebook.
  • Press Esc repeatedly.
  • Select F10 – BIOS Setup.
  • Verify that the notebook can enter BIOS.
  • Check the installed BIOS version.
  • If a BIOS recovery/update is required, use the HP-supported BIOS recovery method appropriate for the exact model.

For supported systems, HP provides BIOS recovery procedures that can use a recovery USB drive when Windows cannot start.

 

Troubleshooting an Automatic Repair Loop

A BIOS update should not automatically be considered the solution to every Automatic Repair problem.

If an Automatic Repair loop continues after the BIOS update, perform the following checks.

 

1. Check whether the storage device is detected

  • Enter BIOS with F10.
  • Check the storage/device information.
  • Confirm that the internal hard drive or SSD is detected.
  • If the drive is missing, investigate the storage device or system-board connection.

 

2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Turn it on.
  3. Press Esc repeatedly.
  4. Select F2 – System Diagnostics.
  5. Run:
    • Memory Test
    • Hard Drive/SSD Test
    • Available system tests
  6. Record any failure ID.

A hardware failure should be addressed before repeatedly reinstalling Windows or updating the BIOS.

 

3. Test the original storage device

If the original drive was removed because of suspected bad sectors:

  • Confirm that the user's data has been backed up.
  • Reinstall or test the original drive where appropriate.
  • Verify whether BIOS detects it.
  • Run the HP storage diagnostic.

A storage device with bad sectors or other failures can cause Windows startup and Automatic Repair problems.

 

4. Check BIOS settings

If BIOS settings have been changed:

  • Enter BIOS with F10.
  • Review the Boot Options.
  • Verify the correct boot device.
  • Restore BIOS defaults if appropriate.
  • Save the changes and restart.

 

5. TPM troubleshooting

Temporarily changing the TPM setting to Hidden/Disabled as a troubleshooting step for the Automatic Repair loop.

If the option exists on the specific notebook:

  • Enter BIOS Setup with F10.
  • Locate the TPM/security-device setting.
  • Change the setting only for troubleshooting.
  • Save the changes.
  • Restart the notebook.
  • Test Windows startup.

Important: TPM settings affect Windows security features. Restore the appropriate security configuration after testing.

 

6. Secure Boot troubleshooting

The community discussion also mentioned a user-reported procedure involving Secure Boot:

  • Enter BIOS with F10.
  • Open Boot Options.
  • Review the Secure Boot configuration.
  • If troubleshooting requires changing Secure Boot, document the original setting first.
  • Test the system.
  • Restore the appropriate HP/default Secure Boot configuration afterward.
