If your HP ProBook 445R G6 Notebook PC shows error After updating Windows, the display adapter (AMD, Intel, or NVIDIA graphics) may show Error Code 43 in Device Manager. Windows disables the graphics device because it has reported a problem.
Symptoms may include:
- Yellow warning icon on the display adapter in Device Manager.
- Low screen resolution.
- Graphics acceleration not working.
- Games or graphics-intensive applications fail to launch.
Error Code 43 is typically caused by a graphics driver issue, Windows Update conflict, or outdated BIOS/chipset firmware.
1: Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Check whether the graphics adapter displays a yellow warning icon.
- Open Properties and verify that Device Status shows Error Code 43.
2: Uninstall the Graphics Driver
- In Device Manager, right-click the graphics adapter.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If available, select Delete the driver software for this device.
- Click Uninstall.
- Restart the notebook.
3: Install the Latest HP Graphics Driver
- Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your notebook.
- Download the latest graphics driver for your model.
- Install the driver.
- Restart the notebook after installation.
4: If the Issue Persists, Install the Latest Graphics Driver from the Graphics Manufacturer
If the HP driver does not resolve the issue:
- Install the latest graphics driver from the graphics chipset manufacturer (AMD, Intel, or NVIDIA), if supported for your notebook model.
- Restart the notebook after installation.
5: Roll Back the Graphics Driver
If Error Code 43 started after a recent driver update:
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click the graphics adapter and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Roll Back Driver (if available).
- Restart the notebook.
6: Update the BIOS and Chipset
- Download the latest BIOS update for your notebook from HP Support.
- Install the latest Chipset driver.
- Restart the notebook after both updates.
Updating the BIOS and chipset can resolve compatibility issues introduced after Windows updates.
7: Install Windows Updates
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install all available updates.
- Restart the notebook.
If the issue was caused by outdated firmware, the graphics driver should function normally after updating the BIOS.
