If you are looking to perform a clean install of Windows 11 on your HP laptop, follow these steps:

Step 1: Backup Important Data

Before you begin, ensure that all important data is backed up, as this process will erase everything on your computer drive.

Step 2: Verify System Requirements

Ensure your laptop meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11:

  • Compatible 64-bit CPU with a speed of at least 1GHz and at least two cores
  • 4 GB or more of RAM
  • 64 GB or more of system storage
  • UEFI with Secure Boot capability
  • TPM 2.0
  • DirectX 12 compatible graphics card with WDDM 2.0 driver
  • Monitor with at least 720p resolution
  • Internet connection

Step 3: Create a Bootable USB Drive

  1. Get a blank USB drive with at least 8GB of space.
  2. On another computer, download the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website.
  3. Run the Media Creation Tool and follow the instructions to make the USB drive bootable.

Note: Any existing content on the USB drive will be deleted during this process.

Step 4: Change Boot Order in BIOS/UEFI

  1. Insert the bootable USB drive into your HP laptop.
  2. Restart your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing a key such as F2, F10, or DEL during the boot process (refer to your laptop’s manual for specifics).
  3. Navigate to the Boot menu to prioritize booting from the USB drive.
  4. Save the changes and exit.

Step 5: Install Windows 11

  1. Your laptop should boot from the USB drive.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate the Windows 11 installation.
  3. Opt for "Custom Install" to perform a clean install.
  4. Select the drive for installation (this will erase content on that drive).

Note: Ensure all data on the selected drive is backed up.

  1. Click "Next" to start the installation process. The laptop may restart several times during this phase.

Step 6: Complete the Installation

  1. After installation, configure region, language, keyboard layout, and other preferences as prompted.
  2. Once Windows 11 is set up, ensure all necessary updates and drivers are installed via Windows Update and HP Support Assistant.
