If your HP laptop is facing sleep or hibernate issues, such as not entering sleep mode, failing to wake up, or waking up unexpectedly,

here are some detailed steps to resolve these issues:

Step 1: Restart Your Laptop

  • Restarting your laptop can erase all information in the memory and might restore functionality.

  • Right-click the Windows icon.

  • Select Shut down or sign out > Restart.

Step 2: Check Connected Devices

  • Disconnect non-essential devices like printers or USB drives.

  • Restart your laptop with only the original mouse, keyboard, and monitor connected.

Step 3: Update Device Settings

  • Open Device Manager and expand Keyboards.

  • Right-click your keyboard and select Properties.

  • Go to the Power Management tab and check Allow this device to wake this computer.

  • For network adapters and other devices, make similar adjustments.

Step 4: Adjust Power Options

  • Open Control Panel > Power Options.

  • Modify settings and advanced options for your selected power plan.

  • Set power and sleep settings as per your requirements.

Step 5: Update Software and Drivers

  • Use Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to ensure all drivers and software are up to date.

  • Watch the HP Support video for guidance on using HP Support Assistant.

Step 6: Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • In Windows, search and open Troubleshoot settings.

  • Select Power > Run the troubleshooter.

Step 7: Configure Services

  • Open Services from the Control Panel or search bar.

  • Change Background Intelligent Transfer Service to Manual under the Startup Type.

Step 8: Check the MEI Driver

  • Verify the version of the MEI driver via HP's support website.

  • Ensure correct installation for compatibility.
