Some touchpads can be turned on or off by double-tapping in the upper-left corner:
- Double-tap the upper-left corner of the touchpad to turn it off.
- Repeat to turn the touchpad on.
2. Perform a Hard Reset
To clear any temporary memory issues that may be affecting the touchpad:
- Turn off the computer.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove all external devices except the mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter and turn on the computer.
3. Test the Touchpad in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI
Run diagnostics to test the touchpad functionality:
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press the esc key repeatedly.
- On the displayed menu, press the f2 key.
- Click on Component Tests, select Mouse/Touchpad, and run the test.
4. Run Windows Update
Ensure your device’s drivers and operating system are up-to-date:
