If you are using an HP Notebook - 15-db1041nm (or another HP notebook with a Realtek RTL8821CE Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter) and want to:
- Update the Realtek Bluetooth 4.2 driver to the latest version.
- Update the Realtek Wi-Fi driver.
- Replace the existing wireless card with a newer model.
Troubleshooting Steps
Update the Realtek Bluetooth Driver
- Identify the installed wireless adapter:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth and confirm that the adapter is Realtek Bluetooth 4.2.
- Expand Network adapters and verify the Realtek RTL8821CE Wi-Fi Adapter.
- Download and install the latest HP Bluetooth driver for the RTL8821CE adapter:
- Driver Version: 1.10.1072.3000
- Restart the notebook after the installation is complete.
Update the Realtek Wi-Fi Driver
- Download and install the latest HP Wi-Fi driver for the RTL8821CE adapter:
- Driver Version: 2024.10.230.0
- Restart the notebook after installing the driver.
Information About Upgrading the Wireless Card
If you are considering replacing the existing Realtek RTL8821CE wireless card with a newer model, note the following:
- HP notebooks with this hardware configuration may support only a limited number of compatible wireless adapters.
- The installed RTL8821CE adapter uses a single Wi-Fi antenna cable.
- Most newer or higher-performance wireless adapters require two antenna cables.
- Adding a second antenna requires disassembling the notebook, including the display assembly, and installing an additional antenna kit.
- Due to the complexity of the upgrade, replacing the wireless card is generally not recommended unless the required hardware modifications can also be completed.
