- How to use the 3.5 mm input/output with a G7500
Specify how the system routes and controls audio from the 3.5 mm stereo input.
Note: If you connect a 3.5mm audio device, make sure that the USB Audio isn’t enabled. Enabling USB audio when you have a 3.5mm audio device connected may result in echoes on the far side.
Configure 3.5 mm Audio Input:
- In the system web interface, go to Audio/Video > Audio > Audio Input > 3.5 mm.
- For Audio Input Level, set the left and right channel levels by choosing a value from 0 to 10
The audio meters display the input’s left and right channel levels.
Choose one of the following Playback Options:
Note: Consider the result of each option when selected.
Play back to All Locations:
- Near and far sites hear the 3.5 mm stereo input.
- You can’t mute audio or control echo cancellation.
Note: Select this option if you’re sending audio from a device.
Play back to Far Sites:
- Only far sites hear the 3.5 mm stereo input (there’s no related video content).
- You can’t mute audio or control echo cancellation through the system.
Note: Select this option if you’re using an external digital signal processor (DSP), such as Polycom SoundStructure, which provides mute controls and echo cancellation.
Play back to Far Sites, Mute Controlled:
- Only far sites hear the 3.5 mm stereo input (there’s no related video content).
- You can’t mute audio or control echo cancellation through the system.
Note: Select this option if you want to perform activities like sharing music from a mobile phone to call participants.
Play back to Far Sites, Mute Controlled, Echo Canceled (G7500 only)
- Only far sites hear the 3.5 mm stereo input (there’s no related video content).
- You can mute audio and control echo cancellation.
- Mic-level inputs aren’t supported.
Note: Select this option if you’re using a line-level microphone, The microphone must provide the line-level signal to work.
Configure 3.5 mm Audio Output.
- In the system web interface, go to Audio/Video > Audio > Line Out.
- To specify how volume is controlled for a device connected to the line out port, choose one of the following Output Mode options:
- Variable: Enables users to change the volume.
- Fixed: Sets the volume to the audio level configured for the system.
Note: If you want to use the 3.5 mm stereo line output to hear audio in the room, make sure you mute the monitors connected to your G7500 and Studio X series system through HDMI.
