- Poly Studio P21 – Camera Not Functioning
You’re connected to the Poly Studio P21, but the camera doesn’t show video in your meeting app, shows a black screen, or isn’t detected by the system or application.
Possible Causes
- The camera isn’t selected as the video source in your conferencing app.
- USB connection issues, missing DisplayLink drivers, or outdated firmware.
- Another app could be using or blocking the camera.
- Power management or system settings interfering with detection.
Resolution Steps
- Check the Camera Selection
- Open your meeting app (like Teams or Zoom).
- Make sure Poly Studio P21 is selected as the video source.
- Also check Windows Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Camera to confirm it’s enabled and chosen.
- Reconnect the USB Cable
- Unplug the USB cable from both the computer and the P21.
- Wait about 10 seconds and plug it back into a different USB port.
- Try to avoid using USB hubs when testing.
- Update Firmware and Drivers
- Open the HP Poly Studio application and check for a firmware update.
- Install the update and let the P21 restart.
- Make sure DisplayLink drivers are installed and up to date — DisplayLink helps the video over USB work properly.
- Close Other Applications
- Make sure apps that use the camera (like Camera app, Zoom, Teams, etc.) are fully closed before testing.
- Try your meeting software again after closing them.
- Restart the Computer
- After performing the above steps, reboot your system and check the camera again.
By checking camera selection, reconnecting the USB cable, updating firmware with the HP Poly Studio application, and making sure system settings and drivers are up to date, most camera issues with the Poly Studio P21 can be resolved and video should work as expected.
