@SBEBONY, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Printer Settings on the Computer

  • Windows:
    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. Select Devices and Printers.
    3. Right-click on HP ENVY 5055 and choose Printer Properties.
    4. Go to the Printing Preferences tab.
    5. In the Quality section, make sure "Draft" is selected under Print Quality.
    6. Confirm by clicking Apply, then OK.
  • Mac:
    1. Open System Preferences and select Printers & Scanners.
    2. Choose your HP ENVY 5055 printer.
    3. Click on Options & Supplies and then Options.
    4. Check that the print settings are set to "Draft" under Print Quality.
    5. If the settings are correct, click OK.

Check for Updates to Printer Drivers

Outdated drivers may cause issues with print settings.

  • Go to HP's official website and download the latest drivers for your HP ENVY 5055.
  • Alternatively, you can update drivers through Device Manager on Windows or through Software Update on macOS.

Reset Printer Settings to Default

Sometimes, incorrect settings can persist. To reset the printer settings:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the printer from the power source for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
  3. Try printing again after configuring the settings correctly.

Check for Software Interference

If you're using third-party printing software, ensure it's not overriding the settings. In some cases, printer software can force a specific print resolution.

Try Printing from Another Application

  • Try printing from another application (e.g., a different word processor or PDF viewer). This will confirm if the issue is with a specific program or the printer itself.

Test with the HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP provides a troubleshooting tool for printer-related issues. Here's how you can use it:

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s official website.
  2. Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve potential problems.

Check Ink or Toner Levels

While this is less likely to directly cause the issue, if ink or toner levels are low, the printer may not print in draft mode even if selected. It can attempt to use a higher resolution to ensure better print quality.

Check the Paper Type

Some printers may automatically switch to higher resolutions depending on the paper type selected (e.g., glossy paper). Ensure that the correct paper type is chosen, and it matches the type of paper you're actually using.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
