Hi @SorayaXavi,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re experiencing an issue where your printer is not recognizing the black ink cartridge or there's a communication error. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Check for Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridge is compatible with your printer model. Using the wrong type or a non-compatible cartridge can often cause recognition issues.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer cover and carefully remove the black ink cartridge.
  • Check the cartridge for any protective covering or tape that might still be attached, and remove it if necessary.
  • Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.
  • Close the printer cover, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.

Clean the Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridge.
  • Locate the metal contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts in the printer’s cartridge slot. These contacts can sometimes get dirty or have ink residue on them, which can cause poor communication.
  • Gently clean the contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth or a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab. Be careful not to leave any fibers behind.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely if you used rubbing alcohol, then reinsert the cartridge and try printing again.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer if it does not automatically turn on. This can sometimes help the printer to reinitialize and recognize the cartridge.

Check the Printer Software:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can usually find updates on the hp  website under the support section.
  • If you are getting a specific error message, check the printer’s manual or the hp website for specific troubleshooting related to that error message.

Try Another Cartridge:

  • If possible, try using a different black cartridge. This can help determine whether the issue is with the cartridge itself or the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
