Officejet 5610v
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an HP Officejet 5610v for which I bought a new color ink cartridge (22), yesterday. I pulled it out of the packaging & plugged it in, but got a "Cartridge error: Refer to printer documentation to troubleshoot." If I put the worn cartridge back in the printer, the error message goes away. Now what should I do?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Make sure the tapes and coverings are all from the new ink. I f the issue still persists, you could either return/replace it to the store/website you purchased it from or contact the HP Support Team regarding this.

Thanks for the reply. I got the cartridge at Walmart, but they would not accept it as a return due to the fact that it was an open package. The Walmart Customer Service person told me that HP does not give them credit when they return cartridges. So indeed, I finally found a phone number for your Customer Service & called to get a replacement. I was told I'd get an email confirming it, but I've not seen anything in the 2-3 days since I made the call...Hopefully, a replacement color cartridge will show up in the mail.
