[edit] I see the 6 months of instant ink, yet when I log in it only offers 2 months.  The pink ad says 6 monthls  Searched hi and low for that so can someone explain how to get the 6 months offered?

That is key.

Regardless - HP+ and Instant Ink are related in this instance for receiving the extended trial period but are actually two separate animals.

READ everything, then decide whether HP+ is something you want.

Next, READ about how Instant Ink subscription actually works -- Decide whether the service is useful long term.

Regardless of what it sounds or looks like,

Instant Ink is an Optional service.

You can use the printer - and even sign up for HP+  -- without an Instant Ink service contract.
