HP Instant Ink
Microsoft Windows 11

I have instant ink. Just replaced color cartridges - printer is out of warranty, but works well - I do not want a new printer!
ERROR message has stopped all print jobs. ERROR message says the cartridges (that HP sent me) are an older version and is not compatible.

Contacting a person to find help on HP is impossible! I need new cartridge's that DO work or somehow allow these to work.
The schematic shows all cartridges are loaded, full and ready to print.

@cb421, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Cartridge Compatibility Issues with Older Cartridges!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP printer related to incompatible cartridges. This error message indicates that the cartridges you received might not be recognized as compatible with your specific printer model. Here are potential solutions to address the issue:

Ensure Proper Installation:

  • Remove the color cartridges from the printer.
  • Reinsert each cartridge and ensure they snap securely into place. Make sure to match the color and icon of each cartridge to the color and icon for each slot.

Inspect Cartridge Packaging:

  • Examine the packaging for your cartridges. The updated versions often have specific identifiers:
    • Look for ‘v1’ adjacent to the warranty end date on the cartridge packaging. This indicates the cartridge is a newer version.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Verify the cartridges are genuine HP products. Non-authentic cartridges might cause compatibility issues.
  • HP Instant Ink cartridges are specifically designated for your printer model and should be verified for authenticity.

Try Resetting the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for a few minutes before turning it back on. This may clear error messages.

Replace with Compatible Cartridges:

  • If the error persists, replace the older generation cartridges with compatible ones. Contact HP Instant Ink services, ensuring to highlight your subscription status for expedited resolution.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
