Appreciate real person help, as the Virtual Agent cannot understand the issue.  Suddenly a print quality issue started where there is a dark grey cloud down the whole page and almost the full width.  It makes everything fuzzy.  See picture.  I have reloaded all the software, made sure I had HP brand ink cartridges, then changed the ink cartridges to new HP ones, ran all the diagnostics with the "HP Print & Scan Doctor", all to no improvement or fix.  HP printer quality.jpg

Hello,

HP Color Laserjet Pro M180-M181 Multifunction series Firmware Update Utility: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-laserjet-pro-100-color-mfp-m175/420815....

You will need to follow the instructions below to solve this issue:

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Press and hold down the Right Arrow () button.
  3. Hold the buttons when you turn on the printer.
  4. When Permanent storage init. appears on the display, release the Right Arrow () button.
NOTE: It takes about 60 seconds before initialization process begins.
If the bottom right arrow of the Permanent Storage Init. screen does not appear, repeat steps 1 and 2, but this time press the bottom left arrow.
  5. The initialization starts.
  6. When the initialization completes, the printer enters the generic printer mode.

Don't hesitate to contact us in case of need.

Best regards,

Thanks for the try.  This did not improve anything at all.

If the arrows being referred to are to the left and right of the OK button, I could not discern any difference when holding either of them down while restarting the printer.  It initializes as usual.  I tried several combinations of holding the button down longer, all to no avail.
