I have sporadically experienced the following issues:

 - Printer stops printing 3/4 down the page (wifi signal is constant and there is plenty of ink)

 - Printer ignores content from page and print blank sections instead (there is plenty of ink)

 - Printer stops printing from page 4 for example. When restarting the printer, it starts re-printing from page 1 onwards. This results in a lot or paper wastage and page from my HP instant ink plan.

As a result I got into a habit of checking every single document I'm printing, which is rather cumbersome. Have you got any recommendations?

Many thanks,

@Hats1978, Welcome to HP Support Community!

This could be an issue with the driver settings or the installed drivers, let us try to isolate and resolve the issue-

Check the settings before you send the print job. Refer to the document HP Printers - Print Settings Guide (Mac) for help.

ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

Remove and add the printer

Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then delete the printer.

Select printer and click the minus sign

Click the Plus sign, and then click Add Printer or Scanner.

Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Try to print.

Hi, and thanks,

Update printer firmware:

  • It is up to date.

Update software on Mac:

  • V 10.14.6 (Mojave) not the latest version but recent enough to be compatible with the printer I believe. Please let me know otherwise. For  storage and logistic reason I am in no position to upgrade to V 11.2.3 Big Sur.

Check settings before printing:

  • confirming we systematically check the settings. regardless off this, no print settings  should enable a 4 pages document to print 1 page out of 4 half way and reprint page 2 twice for example, which is the typeof issue we are experiencing.

Remove and Add Printer:

  • We have re-installed the printer and will run a couple of jobs to see is the issue is fixed.

thanks,

Thanks,

We did not get a chance to print from the laptop where the issues were initially witnessed. We'll report on the success as soon as we'll have run some tests.

Best,
