I recently replaced the black ink cartridge, and the supply levels still show it nearly full. Recently, some printouts have some dropout. I've been thru the print quality diagnostic, and ran "clean cartridges" and "align printer." The output pages still show some dropout on the darkest bar of the black/grey test block, and on some of the alignment blocks. The only suggestions seem to be to keep re-running it, or come to the support page, where I've been repeatedly told to be sure an use genuine HP cartridges (I do) and maybe run "clean cartridges." Seriously?

The cartridge that is loaded has an expiration date on it of 2024/05/11. The last time this happened, there was a known problem with a batch of ink cartridges, and HP sent me a replacement. That was after I talked to a person, which doesn't seem to be an option anymore.

Does anyone know if there is a quality problem with black cartridges? And if so, what I can do about it?
