Hello, I've seen posts about this issue but no public solutions posted.

Printer: HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide

Operating Syustem:Microsoft Windows 11 Pro (64-Bit)

I'm suddenly experiencing a vertical line printed on the left side of my pages. It does this randomly; meaning it only prints on some pages and not on others, but usually the first page. It doesn't matter whether I'm printing from Word, PDF or directly from google docs.

Hi @Sajinovic,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a printing issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide printer, specifically a vertical line appearing on the left side of some pages. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check for Ink or Toner Levels: Ensure that your printer has adequate ink or toner levels. Low ink or toner levels can sometimes cause printing issues, including streaks or lines on the page.
  • Clean the Printer Head: Use the printer's maintenance functions to clean the printhead. This can help remove any debris or dried ink that may be causing the issue. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform this task.
  • Inspect the Printer Drum or Toner Cartridge: If your printer uses a toner cartridge, inspect it for any damage or defects. If you notice any issues, consider replacing the toner cartridge. If your printer uses an ink cartridge, check for any leaks or clogs.
  • Check Paper Tray and Paper Quality: Ensure that the paper in the tray is properly aligned and not wrinkled or damaged. Also, make sure you are using the correct type and size of paper for your printer. Sometimes, using low-quality or incompatible paper can cause printing issues.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Make sure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website or through the HP Smart app.
  • Reset Printer Settings: Try resetting your printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues that may be causing the vertical line.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with the vertical line on your printed pages.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
