Hi @EG2709,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet 4100 printer is not resetting after clearing a paper jam, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
Power Off and On:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Check for Residual Paper:
- Make sure there are no small bits of paper left in the printer. Even tiny shreds can cause issues.
Manual Tray Feed:
- If you have a manual feed tray, make sure it is empty and not jammed.
Check Sensors and Flags:
- Inspect the paper path for any broken sensors or flags. These are small plastic arms that move when paper passes through the printer, triggering sensors to indicate the paper's position.
Reset NVRAM:
- Some issues can be resolved by resetting the Non-Volatile Random Access Memory (NVRAM). To do this, turn off the printer, hold down the "Go" button, and turn the printer back on while continuing to hold the button. Keep holding the button until all three lights on the control panel are lit, then release the button.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware. You can check the HP website for firmware updates specific to your printer model.
Factory Reset:
- As a last resort, you might consider performing a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings, so use it as a last option.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
