Since day one out of the box this printer 7602 has displayed the ADF Jam error. It's been the worst thing about the printer we have attempted every fix with no success. I've contacted HP I've attempted to return to Staples under their warrantee no luck. My next attempt is with a sledge hammer displaying how to properly fix the unit. This is just TRASH equipment with NO support be warned.

Hi @Extremezx9,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

We understand how frustrating this has been, particularly since the ADF jam error has occurred from the first day of using the printer.

We reviewed your earlier post from October 2024 and can see that you had already tried the suggested troubleshooting steps, but the ADF jam error continued.

After completing those steps, did you contact our HP Phone Support team and have the printer checked while it was under warranty? If so, please let us know whether a repair or replacement was arranged. Also, if you still have the HP case number or service reference, please share it through a private message. Please do not post the case number, serial number, or personal information publicly.

Once we know what action was taken at that time, we can avoid repeating the same troubleshooting and guide you appropriately.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply, I did call in I will have to spend the time attempting to find the case # on the call cleaning and attempting to align the trays the error went away for about a day then was back. It's not just the ADF that's an issue though it's the biggest PITA when attempting use the printer. The printer will skip pages and just print a blank page in the mix and when attempting to scan a document off the deck it will not scan it will just print a blank page if you can get it to do that while attempting to get past the ADF Error 50x

Hi @Extremezx9,

Thank you for the update. We understand that the issue is not limited to the ADF. The printer also intermittently skips pages, produces blank pages, and does not scan correctly from the flatbed.

Please confirm the complete error shown on the printer, including all numbers or letters after “50.” Also, when using the flatbed glass, let us know whether:

  • The scanned file on the computer is blank, or
  • The printer produces a blank page when using Copy

Please try these checks:

  1. Remove all documents from the ADF.
  2. Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  3. Check the ADF paper path for torn paper, labels, or other obstructions.
  4. Clean the ADF rollers and separator pad with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  5. Clean the flatbed scanner glass and the narrow ADF scanner strip, then dry both with a clean lint-free cloth.
  6. Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and turn on the printer.
  7. Place a document face-down on the flatbed glass and make one copy.
  8. Print a printer-status or print-quality report directly from the control panel.

The model supports both flatbed and ADF scanning, so testing them separately will help determine whether the problem is with the ADF, scanner assembly, or printing system.

The product guides are available here: HP Smart Tank 7602 All-in-One - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support

Since the ADF error returned after the previous cleaning and alignment, please locate the HP case number from your earlier phone-support contact and share it through a private message. Do not post the case number, serial number, or personal information publicly.

If the error returns after these checks, or if both flatbed scans and copies remain blank, the printer will require further inspection by HP Support.
