HP 8010e printer pulls all legal paper at once and jams. When loading legal size paper the paper doesn't lie flat.  Paper tray extension is set for legal size.

Hi @StormySue,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the paper tray may not be correctly adjusted or there might be an issue with the paper feed mechanism.

Here are a few steps to try and resolve the problem:

Check Paper Tray Adjustment:

  • Make sure the paper tray is fully extended to the legal size and that it is securely locked in place.
  • Verify that the paper guides within the tray are snug against the edges of the paper. Sometimes, the guides can be misaligned, causing paper to feed incorrectly.

Inspect Paper Path:

  • Look inside the printer to ensure there are no obstructions or bits of paper stuck in the paper path.
  • Gently remove any jammed paper if present.

Check Paper Quality:

  • Ensure that the paper you are using is not too curled or bent. Legal size paper should be flat and not bent or warped.
  • Use high-quality paper that is recommended for your printer.

Recalibrate Paper Feed:

  • Access the printer settings from the control panel or through the HP Smart app and look for an option to calibrate or align the paper feed mechanism.

Clean Rollers:

  • Dust or debris on the rollers can cause feeding issues. Carefully clean the rollers inside the paper tray and any accessible rollers using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water.

Reset Printer:

  • Perform a soft reset of the printer by turning it off, unplugging it for a few minutes, and then turning it back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
