We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your printer is making a squeaking noise caused by the carriage movement, here is a detailed step-by-step guide to resolving the issue by cleaning the milky-white mylar strip.
Steps to Clean the Milky-White Mylar Strip:
Turn On the Printer: Start by turning on the printer.
Open the Top Cover: Open the top cover of the printer.
Unplug the Power Cord: Unplug the power cord. This allows the carriage to remain unlocked so that you can move it and clean the entire length of the milky-white strip.
Locate the Milky-White Mylar Strip: The strip is located in the carriage path. Be careful not to confuse it with the encoder strip, which is suspended directly above the carriage rod.
Clean the Milky-White Mylar Strip: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the strip. Move the carriage as required to clean the entire length of the strip.
Caution: Do not clean or handle the encoder strip. If the encoder strip is broken or dislodged, the printer will require repair.
Note: The milky-white mylar strip is translucent and can be difficult to see in the printer.
Close the Top Cover: After cleaning, close the top cover.
Plug in the Power Cord: Reconnect the power cord.
Turn On the Printer: Turn the printer back on.
Print a Test Page: Print a test page to verify that the squeaky noise is not heard. If the noise persists, repeat the cleaning process.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
