Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for explaining — I understand how frustrating it is when the OfficeJet Pro 9018 keeps jamming even after you’ve cleared the paper. This usually happens if the printer still detects leftover bits of paper, rollers are dirty/worn, or the paper feed path has alignment issues.
Here’s a structured way to fix it:
Steps to Fix HP 9018 Paper Jam Issues
1. Double-Check for Hidden Paper
Power off the printer and unplug it.
Remove all trays and check carefully inside:
Input tray
Output tray
Rear access panel/duplexer
Under the cartridge access area
Even tiny scraps can trigger repeated jams.
2. Check & Clean Rollers
Look at the paper feed rollers (rubber rollers inside the tray and rear).
If they’re dusty or smooth:
Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
Wipe the rollers while turning them gently.
Let them dry completely.
If rollers are shiny/slick, they may need replacement.
3. Reset the Printer
With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord.
Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
This clears false jam detection.
4. Paper Handling Tips
Fan and align the paper stack before loading.
Use plain, good quality A4/Letter paper (avoid damp or curled sheets).
Don’t overfill the tray — load ≤ ¾ capacity.
Make sure guides in the tray are snug, not too tight.
5. Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)
- In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
- Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.
6. Firmware & Printer Settings
Check for firmware updates in HP Smart app or HP Support Assistant.
In the printer menu → ensure Paper Type matches what’s loaded (Plain, Glossy, etc.).
7. If It Still Jams
If jams continue in the same spot every time, it often means:
A worn pickup roller/separation pad or a sensor flag stuck inside the paper path.
Question for you: does the jam always happen at the start of pulling paper (from tray), or does the paper get stuck halfway inside? That will tell us whether it’s the pickup roller or internal path/sensor.
